Lamborghini today announced the Huracán LP 580-2 at the Los Angeles Auto Show with the catchphrase “the essence of driving fun”. It incorporates a new dynamic design in both the front and the rear, as the photos clearly show. Stephan Winkelmann, president of Automobili Lamborghini, says the LP 580-2 is just the remedy for “those wanting an even more intense driving experience”.
As mentioned in the recent article on the anticipation of the LP 580-2, it is 33 kilograms lighter than the four-wheel-drive version and has a 40 – 60 weight distribution. The new design of the front increases downforce on the front axle, and the “lip” spoiler together with the rising diffuser in the underbody improves airflow at the rear. In the engine compartment, 75 % of the torque available is on tap already at 1,000 rpm. Cylinder deactivation is also a novelty, allowing the LP 580-2 to become an inline-5 at will. Compared to the Gallardo LP 550-2, torsional stiffness is up by 50 percent, due to improved suspension setup.
To sum it up, this Lamborghini is all about the fun of driving. I, for one, am not against that. Not at all.
