Cherishable Chariots at Chantilly

The third installation of the Chantilly Arts et Elegance took place on the grounds of the picturesque castle of Chantilly on the first weekend of September. In its short lifetime, Chantilly has become one of the go-to events for classic car lovers, and this year also catered for those who prefer the modern supercars, as Saturday morning saw the start of the Supercar Rally. The mix of cars attending this rally was rather mouth-watering, as can be seen in the image gallery:

Chantilly is a mixture of cars old and new, as they invite car makers to show their latest concepts in the setting of classic elegance found throughout the entire event. Thus, visitors could see modern heroes such as the brand new Bugatti Chiron (as well as the Vision GT), the Mercedes-Maybach 6, the DS E-Tense and even a motorbike: The brand new MV Agusta F4 Zagato. The oldest cars attending were well above a century old, and seeing these vehicles on the move is just magnificent!

One of my main attractions was the class Fiftieth anniversary of the Lamborghini Miura P400 (1966 Geneva Motor Show), in which three lovely Miura P400s were entered and displayed. One in a luscious dark green, one in a rich red and one in a simply breathtaking opalescent white. The latter was actually the very same car that was on display on Bertone’s stand at the 1966 Turin Motor Show, and this car had been painstakingly restored back to the very same appearance it had those 50 years ago. This, the second Miura prototype, is, in fact, the oldest existing Miura, as the very first prototype was destroyed.
